I'm guessing people out side of Europe will have no idea what I’m talking about here but “Lordi” are a metal band who dress like demons and rock out. And to the surprise of us all they won the European song contest!
Is it good that they won? Id think wining a popularity poll that big would instantly qualify you for sell out status. And to be honest there are better “lets dress up funny” bands out there like Kwar and if you never seen Alice Copper live then you’ve never seen a rock stage show, stabbing babies, executing himself, that guys got his nuts wired.

So what do you guys think of this lot?

Horsenuts. The whole concept of selling out is bollocks - its just an excuse to act superior.

1) I've kept up with Lordi for a while now, and they've NEVER pretended to be anti-authoritarian.

2) hate to break it to you, but Rock and metal has become increasingly main stream since the 70's. get over it.

3) these are PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS. they've been doing this for 10 YEARS. they may love making music, but its also their livelihood.

4) popularity contest? any battle of the bands is a popularity contest. Eurovision is just on a grander scale.

So, in conclusion, theres no such thing as selling out, and for perhaps the first time, EVER the most talented entry has won the eurovision song contest. on top of that, its a metal band. quit yer d**n pregnant doging.

lordi are amazing. it's good to see a band i actually enjoy winning a competition like eurovision. plus they're from the same country as the mighty nightwish, so how can you go wrong?
